Remember, Chavez is the guy who called Bush the devil and already insulted Obama (called him an “ignoramus). Now, Obama is shaking hands with him and giving him the time of day. He’s an evil dictator, mind you. We should be declaring war on him, not shaking his hand.
Should we be surprised? No. Obama has already showed subservience to Islam by bowing to the Saudi king, allowed North Korea to launch missiles unfettered and is relaxing all our relations with Castro. As Newt said tonight, Obama is a shallow administration following shallow policies…it’s going to be a Carter-esque dictator-friendly regime.
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago - President Obama made the first move to greet Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, but it was the acerbic and anti-American leader who beat Obama to the punch on the World Wide Web.
In a clear indication Chavez sought to leverage his brief encounter with Obama at the opening ceremonies of the fifth Summit of the Americas here, Chavez’s government Web site almost immediately posted a photo of the two leaders and a government-approved commentary in Spanish that read as follows:
“Before the Inaugural session of the 5th Summit of the Americas, the President of the United States approached President Chavez to greet him. They both drew their hands in a historic handshake after many years of tension under the Bush administration, when relations between Washington and Caracas had deteriorated. President Chavez expressed to Obama his desire for changes in the relations between the two countries. Eight years ago I greeted President Bush with this same hand. I’d like to be your friend.”
Relations deteriorated for a good reason. Namely, the fact that Chavez is an evil dictator who abuses his own people. Obama is now rewarding his belligerence.

As if Obama needed any encouragement, Hugo Chavez is out trumpeting the benefits of socialism and urging Obama to follow in his footsteps and create a socialist state in the U.S. Obviously, that’s what Obama wants long-term, but he’s really hesitant about using the “s-word” right now. He needs and wants to implement socialism gradually, without actually calling it that (bank takeovers, porkulus programs, universal healthcare and the like). That way, the population doesn’t see what’s happening to them until too late.
But here’s Chavez out using that forbidden word and pointing it right at Obama, who is probably on the phone with good old Hugo right now going, “Dude, I’m getting there, you just gotta give me some time!”
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez gleefully declared Friday that President Obama may have no choice but to turn to socialism because capitalism in America has “failed.”
In pure economic numbers, considering the fact that our GDP is about 40 times larger than Venezuela, he really doesn’t have much to say. Regarding our supposed failure, I direct you to the immortal words of the CDB:
Well the eagle’s been flying slow and the flag’s been flying low
And a lot of people are saying that America’s fixing to fall
But speaking just for me and some people from Tennessee
We got a thing or two to tell you all
This lady may have stumbled but she ain’t never fell
And if the Russians don’t believe that they can all go straight to hell
We’re gonna put her feet back on the path of righteousness
And then God bless America again
You can substitute ‘Russians’ with whatever anti-American faction you want to put in there (Iranians, scientology loons, liberals, Keith Olbermann, etc).
In a plea evoking Darth Vader’s attempt to turn Luke Skywalker to the dark side, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday urged President Obama to join the socialist movement.
“I recommend to Obama — they’re criticizing him because they say he’s moving towards socialism — come Obama, ally with us on the path to socialism, it’s the only road,” he said on Venezuelan state television, according to a Bloomberg report.
That entire quote is irrelevant except for one point - did they just liken Hugo Chavez to Darth Vader? Frigging hilarious.
Of course, that would make Obama Luke Skywalker, which really doesn’t fit. The only common ground I can find between the two is that they both whine a lot.

Hugo Chavez, the increasingly agitating semi-dictator of Venezuela, has won a major victory in his effort to eliminate those pesky term limits that stop him from pulling a Fidel Castro and ruling forever.
With 94 percent of the vote counted, 54 percent had voted in favor of the constitutional amendment, National Electoral Council chief Tibisay Lucena announced. Forty-six percent had voted against the measure to eliminate term limits on all public officials, too few to make up the distance with the remaining votes.
“Today we opened wide the gates of the future. Venezuela will not return to its past of indignity,” Chavez proclaimed after singing the national anthem from the balcony of his Miraflores palace.
Chavez has made his anti-American sentiments clear (blue eyed devils, et al), and now he’s set himself up to be dictator for life while we have just elected the weakest President in 60 years. Perfect.
At their campaign headquarters, Chavez opponents hugged one another, and some cried. They said the results were skewed by Chavez’s broad use of state resources to get out the vote, through a battery of state-run news media, pressure on 2 million public employees and frequent presidential speeches which all television stations were required to air.
Doesn’t that just sound eerily familiar to an election WE just had?
