Never fear, loyal readers. I will be back posting regularly on this blog soon. Unfortunately my website domain, despite the fact you can easily see it online, is actually stuck in a weird sort of purgatory between hosting companies.
Think of it as Keanu Reeves from the epochally bad third Matrix movie when he was stuck in that bizarre ‘train station’ place, only my website probably displays more emotion than he did.
I’m currently working on moving my site to a new server, so there may be some downtime over the next couple weeks. Rest assured, the Feds haven’t locked me up for being a political dissident (yet) and I’ll be back online soon.
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m pretty much pro-military 24/7 and 365. I would never want to restrict the thanks our veterans deserve to just one day, so today, please make an extra effort to thank veterans even more for their service to our country.
Without their daily sacrifices, their hard work and the blood they’ve spilled, we would not enjoy the freedoms we currently do. America owes its very soul to our veterans and we should never forget it.
As some of the craziest dictators and egotistical rulers descend on New York to speak at the U.N., the U.S. government is doing what they can to make everyone comfortable and safe…on the taxpayer’s dime, of course.
When the despots of the world roll into New York on Wednesday for the annual meeting of the U.N. General Assembly, American taxpayers will pay a hefty price to ensure their safety.
The cost of keeping the dictators safe? At least $20 million. That’s how much New York City forked out during the first two weeks of last year’s General Assembly, according to a city official who spoke to FOX News on condition of anonymity.
And $20 million may be just the tip of the iceberg. The Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the Secret Service, the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the New York State Police will also be called in to provide protective details for several of the 138 heads of state expected to attend.
It adds up to a pricetag that doesn’t sit well with some critics of the world forum.
“It’s an outrage that the U.S. has to admit a man like Ahmadinejad, who will use the U.N. microphone to promote genocide,” said Anne Bayefsky, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
“The U.S. taxpayer pays 22 percent of the U.N.’s regular budget, which includes 20 percent of what is costs to allow [Ahmadinejad] to use the U.N. to spew hatred, anti-semitism and repeated calls for the annihilation of the Jewish state,” Bayefsky said.
To be fair, since taxpayer dollars have recently been used to fund an organization that encourages and offers to help set up brothels, I suppose keeping despots safe is kind of par for the course.
Now, I understand John Bolton’s point in that article that if we have the U.N. here, it’s our responsibility to keep the idiots speaking there safe. So I have a better solution: goodbye U.N.!
Go dump that piece of garbage organization somewhere else and let them deal with it. We certainly don’t need them here. I hear Libya had some nice things to say about the group…maybe they should look to set up headquarters there.
I’m honestly surprised it’s not higher. With soaring deficits, an incompetent administration, a record-low approval rating for the radical Congress and nearly every government program in existence having issues with corruption or hemorrhaging taxpayer dollars, this number should be about 99%.
Sixty-six percent (66%) of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. That figure includes 36% who are Very Angry.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 30% are not angry about the government’s policies, including 10% who are Not at All Angry.
Adding to the voter frustration is the fact that 60% believe neither Republican nor Democratic political leaders have an understanding of what is needed today.
Among those who are Very Angry about government policies, 80% say that neither political party’s leaders have the answers.
The Obama Administration’s shortlist to replace retiring Justice David Souter is a who’s-who list of radicals and liberal activists. None are worse, however, than Circuit Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor.
What’s wrong with her? On top of being a radical leftist, she absolutely exemplifies everything that is wrong with judges in today’s society. Instead of being content to perform the Constitutional job of interpreting the law in the context of, well, the Constitution, Sotomayor believes that the court should create policy. Oh yeah. It’s like that.
The court is where policy is made? Oh really? Could have fooled me. Here I was, thinking that the Founders created a country with three different branches of the Federal government that each serve a distinct function. In recent years, of course, these bodies have been merging together into one ugly conglomeration of overly powerful Federal government.
Circuit Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor would face a difficult time getting through the Senate if nominated to the Supreme Court, top Judiciary Committee Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah) warned Thursday.
Hatch said that statements made by Sotomayor about judges making policy was a cause for concern that could hold up a potential nomination by President Obama.
“She would have, I think, a more difficult time if she was nominated because of statements like that and, of course, she has a whole raft of opinions that I think would have to be scrutinized very carefully,” Hatch said during an appearance on Fox News.
The comments are a warning shot against a nominee who, conventional wisdom has suggested, is a frontrunner to fill the vacancy left by retiring Justice David Souter.
Basically, Obama would pick her for two reasons: first, he wants to continue his pandering to the Hispanic demographic by selecting her. The second, of course, is the more obvious, which is just the simple fact that he wants to slide the court even further left. Remember what he had to say about his pick for SCOTUS?
We need somebody who’s got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it’s like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it’s like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that’s the criteria by which I’m going to be selecting my judges.
The heart? The empathy? Are you kidding me? This isn’t a damn counseling session. This is the Supreme Court of the United States America. This is not a body of “empathy” or “heart.” This is a body of law, of order and of Constitutionality. Picking a judge based on these insane “qualifications” is stupid and naive, which really is par for the course with this administration.
Sotomayor thinks it’s funny that people get upset about judges legislating from the bench. I don’t think it’s so funny. The judicial branch was created to balance the other two, not work hand-in-hand with them to pass liberal legislation. They are supposed to interpret issues in the context of the Constitution, not create new laws. As Mark Levin is fond of saying, the Supreme Court has had a significant hand in destroying the fabric of America with judicial activism. Judges are not supposed to legislate, but it makes it much easier to further the agenda of socialism if you have justices who are willing to do just that.
Hilarious! We’ve known that liberals have something unhinged upstairs for awhile (Bush Derangement Syndrome was just one symptom of a larger issue), but it’s cackle-inducing to see a psychiatrist actually saying it. I definitely have to own this book.
“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”
“Strikingly irrational beliefs.” That’s pure gold.
Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
* creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
* satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
* augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
* rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
That’s actually an extremely astute description of liberalism right there. It’s a carbon copy of what the Obamessiah is trying to do right now; making everyone feel like a victim of capitalism, telling everyone that they deserve all these government handouts like healthcare, promoting class envy and telling everyone to submit to the government’s plan for us.
CHICAGO, February 24, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Edwin McClure, a Virginia Commonwealth University graduate student, and one of the participants in clinical trials involving adult stem cells, says that he is completely cured of the multiple sclerosis symptoms that began to afflict him in high school.
“It’s a blessing,” the young student told Bloomburg News. “My disease has been halted.”
A team of researchers at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, including Dr. Richard Burt, the team leader and the hospital’s Division Chief of Immunotherapy, developed the treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS) using stem cells taken from the patient’s own bone marrow. (See: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/feb/09020202.html)
“For the first time ever in the history of treating MS we have reversed disability,” Dr. Burt said of the results of clinical trials using adult stem cells.
“All therapies to date … have focused on slowing the progression of disease,” he said. But with the new treatment, he said, “This is the first time we have turned the tide on this disease.”
Congratulations to Dr. Burt and his team for such an extraordinary breakthrough!
Watch the whole video through; it’s not until about 30 seconds from the end that you get a really good look at the first ferry arriving on the scene. You can also see a couple different views of the plane coming in and one that actually shows the landing. It’s a pretty amazing miracle and a testament to how well everyone did their jobs that people came out of this unscathed.
