Blogosphere 1, NBC 0
December 9th, 2007 · No Comments
Ten years ago, NBC would have simply refused to run the ad I mentioned yesterday, and that would have been the end of it. Sure, a few radio hosts and talk show commentators may have beat them up a bit, but they would have been able to operate essentially with impunity.
Welcome to the 21st century, NBC, where every user of the Internet can call you on the carpet for doing something wrong.
Thanks to a huge amount of pressure from the Blogosphere and a little boycott call from Newt Gingrich, NBC has reversed its decision and has agreed to run the Freedom’s Watch ad thanking the troops.
American citizens are becoming more powerful than a multi-billion dollar broadcasting company, and that’s good news for everyone.
Well, except NBC.

The Peacock Network Strikes Again
December 7th, 2007 · 1 Comment
The NBC network, continuing its ongoing mission of trashing our military, refused to run an ad supporting the troops.
They claim it’s because they don’t want a political message shown; the ad was paid for by Freedom’s Watch, a conservative organization, and they posted their website address in the final frame of the message thanking the troops.
Click here for the first video and here for the second video.
I have to wonder if the ad was posted by MoveOn.org if NBC would have had the same issue? Not that I think that MoveOn would ever in a million years publish something supporting the troops, of course; it’s just a hypothetical point.
Regardless, this article makes a legitimate point; is the political statement the web address at the end of the ad, or the refusal to run the ad?

Support the troops? Not in Mass.

The anti-war SPs won’t be happy until we are all as miserable as they are. The article puts it better than I can regarding the People’s Republic of Cambridge, although I would tend to make it the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, as they have cracked down on Boy Scouts who were just trying to support the troops.
I for one am glad that we have people like this protecting us from those dangerous Boy Scouts. How dare they try and support the men and women who are risking (and in some cases, giving) their lives to protect our freedoms!!!!
Yeah…
I was an Eagle Scout, and am an ardent supporter of the troops, so quite frankly, I am appalled. If these people don’t support the war, fine, whine and complain about it, they have the freedom to do that. But why are they taking their aggression out on the troops, who ironically are protecting their right to be idiots?
The only “political statement” being made here is the one that the SPs are making, that their rampant anti-war sentiment is going to take more precedence than anything else, including the comfort and morale of our troops. As long as they make it known that they can stomp their feet like two year olds and complain about the war, they don’t care about anything else.
