Obama’s Support on Global Warming Plunges

December 19th, 2009 · No Comments

While he’s over in Copenhagen trying to apologize to the world for America polluting Africa or something, people back here are getting seriously annoyed with the green agenda. So annoyed, actually, that Obama’s support on global warming issues have dropped a net 32 points this year.

As [Obama] arrives in Copenhagen hoping to seal an elusive deal on climate change, his approval rating on dealing with global warming has crumbled at home and there is broad opposition to spending taxpayer money to encourage developing nations to curtail their energy use, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Of course, the recent climate-gate scandal may have something to do with this. These numbers also match somewhat with Rasmussen’s latest surveys, which show that only 34% of Americans believe global warming is caused by human activity and not planetary trends.

Public skepticism about the officially promoted cause of global warming has reached an all-time high among Americans.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 50% of likely voters now believe that global warming is caused primarily by long-term planetary trends.

Just 34% say climate change is due primarily to human activity, even as President Obama and other world leaders gather at a UN summit to limit the human activity they blame for global warming. Six percent (6%) say there is some other reason for global warming, and 10% are not sure.

Belief that human activity is the primary cause of global warming has declined significantly over the past year. In April 2008, 47% blamed human activity and only 34% named long-term planetary trends as the reason for climate change.

EPA Admits Cap and Trade Won’t Affect a Dang Thing

July 10th, 2009 · No Comments

Other than the devastating effects it will have on our economy, of course.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee began their hearings on the 1,500 page Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade legislation Tuesday, and ranking member Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) won a startling admission from Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa Jackson. Inhofe produced an EPA chart generated last year during the Senate’s debate of the Lieberman-Warner cap-and-trade legislation. The chart showed that the carbon reductions under that bill would not materially effect global carbon concentrations in the atmosphere. Inhofe then asked Jackson if she agreed with the chart’s conclusions. Jackson replied: “I believe that essential parts of the chart are that the U.S. action alone will not impact CO2 levels.”

Heritage has the full story.

This really isn’t surprising, because Cap and Tax was not designed to reduce carbon emissions, save the whales, help field mice, make peace with Algore’s chosen deity Gaia or otherwise improve anything. Cap and Tax was designed to target capitalism, free enterprise and our economy in general. Its mission is to ruin companies, hamper innovation, redistribute wealth and absolutely crush our economy.

After all, you can’t really implement communism and seize “emergency executive powers” if things are working now can you?

TN Voting on Algore Statue

May 12th, 2009 · No Comments

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A resolution urging the creation of statues to be built on the Tennessee Capitol grounds of the state’s two Nobel Peace Prize winners, Al Gore and Cordell Hull, is on its way to a full Senate vote.

The Senate State and Local Government Committee on Tuesday advanced the measure supporting the privately funded statues on a 9-0 vote. The resolution previously passed in the House unanimously.

Gore was awarded his Nobel prize in 2007 for his work on global warming, while Hull received the award in 1945 for his role in creating the United Nations and improving international trade relations.

I wonder which Algore the statue will resemble, though. There are many to choose from: Smug VP Gore, Bellowing Ex-VP Gore, Sore Loser Gore, Scissors Lift to Hell Gore, Doing the TV Rounds Eye Twitch Gore or, my personal favorite, Unshaven Tree Hugging Madman Gore.

I’m really pulling for Madman Gore.

Obama Admin Flexes Mad Scientist Muscle, Suggests Weather Control

April 11th, 2009 · No Comments

As if the crazy tree-huggers needed more encouragement, now Obama’s new science czar (you know, one of those crazy radicals that he just “appointed” with no oversight) wants to start looking at weather control devices to “engineer” the earth’s weather.

Sounds like a great plan; let’s take a bunch of bad science from anti-capitalism leftists who want to use false information to implement caps on businesses and then mess with a cyclical change in the earth’s atmosphere by utilizing technology that we have no CLUE what effect it will have. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

The president’s new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth’s air.

John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.

Wait, we want to POLLUTE the air? Hasn’t the Left been going berserk to stop us from polluting the air, going as far as suggesting massive caps on businesses and individuals to stop us from polluting, but it’s ok if Obama pollutes it intentionally.

Yeah, ok; liberal doublespeak at its finest.

This is beyond stupid (I say this a lot about BHO’s idiotic plans, it seems). Putting Obama’s socialist administration in charge of “engineering” the atmosphere is like asking a blind man to paint the boundary lines on a eight-lane super highway. The end result is not going to be pretty and it probably going to lead to a lot of hurt people.

NSIDC Blames “Sensor Drift” for “Loss” of 193k Miles of Arctic Ice

February 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

One of the biggest hammers the global warming nut jobs have been swinging has been the “retreating Arctic Ice” argument.

It’s real easy to make that fly when the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) “loses” nearly 200,000 square miles of Arctic Ice.

As some of our readers have already noticed, there was a significant problem with the daily sea ice data images on February 16. The problem arose from a malfunction of the satellite sensor we use for our daily sea ice products. Upon further investigation, we discovered that starting around early January, an error known as sensor drift caused a slowly growing underestimation of Arctic sea ice extent. The underestimation reached approximately 500,000 square kilometers (193,000 square miles) by mid-February. Sensor drift, although infrequent, does occasionally occur and it is one of the things that we account for during quality control measures prior to archiving the data. See below for more details.

We have removed the most recent data and are investigating alternative data sources that will provide correct results. It is not clear when we will have data back online, but we are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Can you say…oops? While the organization is quick to make the point that this only affects recent data, it makes you wonder a little bit how many other instances of “sensor drift” or other tech-sounding errors have affected other global warming studies.

Tree Huggers Should Be Sobbing: Obamessiah Crowning Will Spew 575 Million Pounds of CO2

January 18th, 2009 · No Comments

So if you were to believe the campaign promises, Barack Obama is the savior of the planet, quite literally when it comes to the environment. He stated repeatedly that global warming was a top issue for him and over and over again explained his plans for huge climate change initiatives and his wish to smash corporations that refuse to submit to socialistic cap and trade systems (not in those exact words, but hey, it’s the thought that counts).

Apparently, though, his climate change position only takes effect AFTER the inauguration:

Here’s an environmental impact story you’re not likely to see in the mainstream media. Neither NBC’s chief environmental affair correspondent Anne Thompson, nor ABC correspondent Bill Blakemore nor CBS “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley – all of whom have been eager over the years to expose so-called crimes against the environment – have rushed to report on the massive carbon footprint of the Obama inauguration.

But a comprehensive new study by The Institute for Liberty (IFL) took an in-depth look at each component of the Jan. 20 inauguration in Washington, D.C., and estimated that 575 million pounds of carbon dioxide will be emitted in the atmosphere for the inauguration – which is roughly equal to what the average American household would produce in 57,598 years.

Speaking with the Business & Media Institute, IFL President Andrew Langer noted the hypocrisy of the event having so large an environmental impact, especially in light of the strong stands promoting the case for manmade global warming of many of Obama’s cabinet picks. Even Secretary of State Designate Hillary Clinton characterized climate change as a national “security threat.”

See the study: http://thechillingeffect.org/wp-content/themes/paalam-11/CarbonBigfoot.pdf

And the full story from The Business and Media Institute.

What??? A liberal being a hypocrite? Say it ain’t so! Just a classic case of business as usual, “do as I say not as I do” democrat politics. Obama wants to appoint an avowed socialist as a “climate czar” to lead the “global mission” of greenhouse gas reductions, but he has no qualms with his crowning as the Savior of the World putting out half a billion pounds of carbon.

My Definition of Climate Change

August 18th, 2008 · No Comments

I am getting so tired of the ‘green’ crowd.

Main Entry: climate change
Part of Speech: n
Definition: The scientifically unjustifiable farce propagated by radical, Marxist environmentalists in an effort to crush capitalism through regulation.
Example: Alarmist efforts by environmentalist wackos supposedly address ‘climate change,’ but are actually part of a concerted strategy by the far-left to suppress capitalism and freedom at any cost.

E85 = -(-greenhouse emissions)

May 9th, 2008 · No Comments

The green crowd wants you to believe that our fossil fuels are destroying the Earth, and the only answer is renewable, “clean” bio-fuels. According to a group of Minnesota scientists, bio-fuels may actually lead to MORE greenhouse emissions.

The study, published Thursday in the online version of the journal Science, was funded by the National Science Foundation and the University of Minnesota. Another study published Thursday in Science, with estimates from economists at Iowa State University, concluded that corn-based ethanol could double greenhouse gas emissions, rather than reducing them, during the next 30 years because of the dramatic changes in land use.

The reason for scientists’ concern, said Tilman, is that soil and plants hold three times more carbon than air. Clearing trees to grow more corn or bulldozing tropical forests to grow more sugarcane emits large amounts of carbon dioxide, either quickly through the burning of the wood, or more gradually through the decomposition of carbon stored in plants and soil.

Tilman calculated that converting natural ecosystems to raise corn or sugarcane for ethanol, or soybeans or palms for biodiesel, will release 17 to 420 times more carbon than the annual savings from replacing fossil fuels. The Minnesota study estimated that in the United States, it will take 93 years for the carbon losses from plowing one acre of healthy grassland to equal the carbon savings from corn-based ethanol produced on that land.

The rest of the article is equally interesting. The obsessive “green” alarmists are going to be the end of us. They won’t be happy until they guilt trip us back to 15th. century technology.

Well, that is if the terrorists and illegal immigrants don’t get us first.

Happy Industrial Revolution Day Everyone!

April 22nd, 2008 · 1 Comment

Get your stickers here!

Remember to turn those lights on, make a couple of extra and unnecessary trips to the store and, above all else, throw those recyclable bottles directly into the trash! *gasp!*

Oh, and eat meat. Apparently, we are supposed to eat “cool foods” on Earth Day.

I’m thinking steak, which I plan to pick up with my 10 MPG ‘97 Chevy Tahoe (after driving home from class FIRST). I can then wash it down with a couple beverages…from bottles…which I will then throw into the garbage. Oh, it’s going to be a good day for stomping down the enviro-nuts.

Obama says he’d hire Al Gore

April 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

Just when I thought that Obama couldn’t get more extreme, he makes a “commitment” to AlGore to have him at the table to discuss and find solutions to “global warming.”

WALLINGFORD, Pa. - Democrat Barack Obama said Wednesday he talks regularly with former vice president Al Gore and would consider putting him in a Cabinet-level position or higher.

A woman at a town hall asked the Illinois senator if elected president would he consider tapping the former vice president for his Cabinet, or an even higher level office, to address global warming.

“I would,” Obama said. “Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He’s somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I’m already consulting with him in terms of these issues, but climate change is real. It is something we have to deal with now, not 10 years from now, not 20 years from now.”

So he wants to put AlGore as a cabinet member or “higher,” i.e. Vice-President.

You mean, this Al Gore? The hypocrite Al Gore? The lying, exaggerating Al Gore?

Sure, let’s put him in office again and make his fear-mongering a government supported policy.

Although, that may not even be the scariest part of the article:

Obama said he would use Gore to help forge a cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions designed to lower pollution.

Again with the carbon credits! The enviro-nuts just don’t stop! It’s bad enough when it’s just a few maniacs out running around screaming their poor heads off, but when someone running for president is all on board with it…that’s frightening.
