Despite the success that immigration raids had under the Bush administration, Obama and his cadre of illegal-supporters and open-borders fanatics aren’t big fans of enforcing the law (which is obvious given how many of them have tax issues, but that’s another story).
Now, we have a front being pushed forward to suspend raids. Democrats are claiming it’s not enough that we provide illegals with free healthcare and let them sit here without penalty, but now we need to add them to the Census as well.
Of course, the main point isn’t about the Census (although that’s part of it). The main thrust of this is to create an excuse to stop the raids and stop punishing criminals.
Some lawmakers are calling anew for the U.S. to relax its immigration laws — not to provide sanctuary to illegal immigrants, but to ensure statistical accuracy.
The calls come as the Census Bureau prepares to kick off the 2010 Census. Critics argue that unless the government is willing to relax immigration laws, millions of people — afraid to their share their personal information — will be left out of the count.
U.S. Rep. William Clay, D-Mo., who chairs a House oversight subcommittee on the Census, said he plans to ask the Obama administration to suspend immigration raids over the next year.
He wants the raids put on hold so illegal immigrants don’t worry that sharing accurate information with Census workers could somehow expose them to punishment, even deportation.
I’m sorry…I don’t get it. Why are we including ILLEGAL CRIMINALS WHO DON’T BELONG HERE IN OUR CENSUS? How about, instead, we just try to enforce our laws and deport those who don’t belong here. Maybe that would be a better idea…just a thought. I’m pretty sure that the whole “illegal immigrant” law was created for a reason, and I doubt that the reason was to be ignored.
They are here illegally and they deserve nothing more than being rounded up and shipped back to whatever country they wandered over here from.
Maybe we should go through with this…let the illegals give their information, and THEN swoop in and start deporting them via flatbed trucks (and then go merge/purge the Census data to wipe them out).

Obama has gotten the stuffing beaten out of him in the press for trying to move the census into the White House under the direct control of Rahm “Dead Fish” Emanuel. So, now he has a new plan; let’s bring in some help to administer the census. Guess who?
ACORN, the organization whose voter fraud strategies, partisan antics and “stuff a bunch of homeless people in a van” get-out-the-vote efforts vaulted Obama into the presidency.
Quid Pro Quo, Miss Starling. Quid Pro Quo.
The U.S. Census is supposed to be free of politics, but one group with a history of voter fraud, ACORN, is participating in next year’s count, raising concerns about the politicization of the decennial survey.
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now signed on as a national partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in February 2009 to assist with the recruitment of the 1.4 million temporary workers needed to go door-to-door to count every person in the United States — currently believed to be more than 306 million people.
A U.S. Census “sell sheet,” an advertisement used to recruit national partners, says partnerships with groups like ACORN “play an important role in making the 2010 Census successful,” including by “help[ing] recruit census workers.”

Judd Gregg, the GOP Senator from New Hampshire that Obama tapped to replace the corruption-riddled Bill Richardson as commerce secretary, has withdrawn his name from consideration for the position.
WASHINGTON – Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire abruptly withdrew his nomination as commerce secretary Thursday, the third Cabinet-level pick scuttled. The move left President Barack Obama without a full team to lead the government.
He cited “irresolvable conflicts” with Obama’s handling of the economic stimulus and 2010 census.
The White House quickly issued a statement saying that Gregg was the one who originally offered his name for the job. Once it became clear he could not support all of the president’s agenda, “it became necessary for Senator Gregg and the Obama administration to part ways,” said presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs.
This is excellent news. Comrade Obama wanted to create a “cabinet of rivals,” but apparently, if those rivals disagree with you (as rivals usually do) it becomes necessary to minimize them (by stealing the census and giving it to Acolyte Rahmbo). Gregg most likely wanted none of that.
Nice attempted save there, Gibbs. So, either Obama kicked him out because he wasn’t agreeing with his policies (see above, RE: cabinet of rivals), or Gregg left because he could not get behind Obama’s socialism schemes. I tend to think it was the latter.
Personally, I think this is a great move for Gregg. With all the corruption swirling around the White House and the cabinet especially, it’s better for him to just get out of it. Also, we get one of our best GOP senators back in the Senate, which sorely needs some strong conservatives.
Let the socialists bring the country to ruin on their own, then we will have no one to blame but them.

This is a stunning story that is receiving little to no mainstream media coverage outside of Fox News. Obama has moved the operations for the U.S. Census into the White House, and essentially handed the reigns of the project to none other than his Chief of Staff, Chicago insider Rahm Emanuel.
If this had happened under Bush’s watch, the equivalent would have been putting Karl Rove in charge of redistricting. I’m sure the media would have had a field day on that; it would have been the lead story for weeks. But, since it’s King Obama and he’s giving it to his corrupt little minions, it’s all OK.
Dear Leader would never lead us wrong, the media will say. It’s just fine if his cronies redistrict every state into absurd zigzags in order to take over an uncountable number of battleground districts by moving Democratic-voting population centers within their boundaries.
After all, it’s all part of Comrade Obama’s plan for America. It’s Change We Can Believe In.
The GOP wants to use exact headcounts of districts. The Democrats want to use some convoluted process of sampling and estimating. The Constitution mandates exact headcounts.
How hard is this to understand?
The Census Bureau does not need to be politically affiliated. It needs to be have an unbiased look at the population, and should not be wielded as a tool to affect future elections.
GOP Minority Leader John Boehner agrees with me:
“I am disturbed by reports that control of the traditionally nonpartisan Census Bureau is being stripped from the Commerce Department and placed with the White House staff. This action appears to be motivated by politics, rather than the interests of our country, and the burden will be on the new administration to prove otherwise during Senator Gregg’s confirmation hearings. The United States Census should remain independent of politics; it should not be directed by political operatives working out of the White House.”
A lifetime Chicago politician who sends dead fish in the mail to his political enemies, now in charge of shaping how hundreds of millions of American citizens are represented in Congress? What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
Gee, why would this be such a priority? I don’t know, maybe the fact that the Census will have a MONSTROUS impact on voting results? Redistricting could enable the Democrats to massacre the current district setup and steal innumerable districts from the Republicans.
After The Obamessiah appointed Gregg to the Commerce Secretary post in an attempt to ruin the GOP Senate count and it didn’t work, he needed to find some way to gain political power out of the situation. Enter the Obamacensus, which, under the watchful eye of Rahm Emanuel, should provide the Democrats with a rather large chance to increase their seats in 2010 without having to fire a single shot.
