Yep, those good, upstanding people in Guantanamo Bay that the liberals want released since they’ve “done nothing wrong” are actually terrorists who, once released, will GO BACK TO BEING TERRORISTS. Amazing! Shocking!
Two of the four leaders allegedly behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit were released by the U.S. from the Guantanamo prison in November, 2007, according to American officials and Department of Defense documents. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the Northwest bombing in a Monday statement that vowed more attacks on Americans.
American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an “art therapy rehabilitation program” and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.
Guantanamo prisoner #333, Muhamad Attik al-Harbi, and prisoner #372, Said Ali Shari, were sent to Saudi Arabia on Nov. 9, 2007, according to the Defense Department log of detainees who were released from American custody. Al-Harbi has since changed his name to Muhamad al-Awfi.
An art therapy rehabilitation program? Are you kidding me? We released terrorists and it came back to bite us. Hmm, I swear I predicted something like that would happen and I swear we already went through this song and dance.
This is ridiculous. Once we have a terrorist in our custody, he should stay there. Oh, yes, good idea, let’s send terrorists overseas to a terrorist country to be “rehabilitated.”

Wow, how utterly (un)shocking.
WASHINGTON – Terror suspects who have been held but released from Guantanamo Bay are increasingly returning to the fight against the United States and its allies, the Pentagon said Tuesday.
Sixty-one detainees who have been released from the U.S. Navy base prison in Cuba are believed to have rejoined the fight, Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said. That’s up from 37 previously, Morrell said.
The new figures come as President-elect Barack Obama prepares to issue an executive order during his first week in office to close the controversial prison.
So we have the Pentagon saying that Gitmo detainees are returning to fight AGAINST US at an alarmingly increasing rate…and The Obamessiah wants to close the place down? How about the 250 who are still there?
I guess we give them a pat on the back and hope that they miraculously decide to NOT head back to their terrorist organization of choice? Is that the plan, Obama? Maybe we give them some Obama campaign signs or buttons and ‘hope’ that they ‘change.’
So much for the hard work and sacrifice of all of our troops that bled to put those monsters in the prison.

From the Washington Post:
Four of the five main online forums that al-Qaeda’s media wing uses to distribute statements by Osama bin Laden and other extremists have been disabled since mid-September, monitors of the Web sites say.
The disappearance of the forums on Sept. 10 — and al-Qaeda’s apparent inability to restore them or create alternate online venues, as it has before — has curbed the organization’s dissemination of the words and images of its fugitive leaders.
Spectacular. Nothing better (well, other than outright killing them) than shutting off their lines of communication and stopping them from propagating their radical-ness. That’s a word today.
On several occasions over the past three years, unknown hackers have shut down al-Qaeda-affiliated Web sites after they announced the imminent release of a new video message from Osama bin Laden or another extremist leader. It is often impossible to pinpoint the source of such online attacks, though some experts say the culprits could be independent activists.
A U.S. intelligence official, asked about the online attacks, declined to say whether U.S. spy agencies engage in them. American and British security forces each have joint commands overseeing online operations against extremists.
So the government won’t admit to it…which doesn’t really bother me. It’s actually almost more heartening to think that some freelance band of patriots tore these idiotic sites down.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Two local intelligence officials say troops and tribesman opened fire when two U.S. helicopters crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s army and the U.S. military in Afghanistan said they had no information on the alleged incident late Sunday in North Waziristan.
The two intelligence officials spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because they were not authorized to speak to media. They cited field informants.
More here.
So these guys are feeling pretty cocky now, are they? I guess when you threaten the big kid on the block it automatically makes you tough too. You know, now that I think about it, who really needs Pakistan anyway? I declare regime change!
Seriously though…maybe if they policed the porous and completely undefended terrorist hideout that they call a border with Afghanistan we wouldn’t have this issue.

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s prime minister said yesterday that the government has defeated terrorism in the country, a sign of growing confidence after recent crackdowns against Sunni extremists and Shiite militias.
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki began the crackdowns to extend the authority of the government over areas in Baghdad and elsewhere that have largely been under the control of armed groups since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
“They were intending to besiege Baghdad and control it,” al-Maliki said. “But thanks to the will of the tribes, security forces, army and all Iraqis, we defeated them.”
Such attacks plagued Iraq after the U.S.-led invasion, but violence in the country has now fallen to its lowest level in four years. The change has been driven by the 2007 buildup of American forces, the Sunni tribal revolt against Al Qaeda in Iraq and al-Maliki’s crackdowns, among other factors.
WHAT!?!?!?!?! Progress in Iraq!?!??!! No, this cannot be true! The media said we are losing! The Democrats said we are losing! Were they not telling the truth!?!??! Perish the thought.
Seriously though, this is good news. I do object a bit to al-Maliki’s assertion that it was due to their military and their police (as if we weren’t sitting there babysitting them and taking care of the tough spots for the last five years), but at least they are moving in the right direction.
Amazingly enough, later in the article it even says that they are using some of their oil revenue to rebuild stuff in their country. Jeez, I’ve only been calling for them to do that for four years.

Another one bites the dust.
This time, the Russians DO confirm the news story about them.

Oh yeah, we can just “take the hate away” and “negotiate” with these fiends that won’t stop until they “destroy the White House.”
This should be a wake up call to certain people; when is everyone going to learn that there will be no peace, there will be no compromise, and there will be no end to this terrorism until either they are dead or we are dead.
In a related matter, it occured to me that we really should be deathly afraid of the Democrats leading our country when Al Qaeda supports them.
