WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Sunday his Republican rival deserves no credit for helping to forge a tentative agreement on the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street.
Instead, Obama said he deserves credit for making sure the proposal includes safeguards for taxpayers. Obama said he is inclined to support the bailout because it includes increased oversight, relief for homeowners facing foreclosure and limits on executive compensation for chief executives of firms that receive government help.
The Chosen One is acting like people would WANT credit for this ridiculous piece of socialistic garbage.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Two local intelligence officials say troops and tribesman opened fire when two U.S. helicopters crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s army and the U.S. military in Afghanistan said they had no information on the alleged incident late Sunday in North Waziristan.
The two intelligence officials spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because they were not authorized to speak to media. They cited field informants.
So these guys are feeling pretty cocky now, are they? I guess when you threaten the big kid on the block it automatically makes you tough too. You know, now that I think about it, who really needs Pakistan anyway? I declare regime change!
The 3rd District Court of Appeals in Sacramento has ruled that a lawsuit filed by out-of-state students challenging a California law granting in-state tuition to illegal aliens can move forward. The three judge panel went even further by stating that California’s law was unconstitutional because it violates federal law. The panel also said that the law violates the equal protection clause and immunity clause of the constitution.
And:
California (as well as nine other states) are currently violating the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act, which allows a state to provide subsidized, lower in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens but only if the state also provides the same low rate to U.S. citizens who are residents of other states. You might remember that the U.S. Supreme Court recently refused to hear a case brought by out-of-state students attending Kansas universities.
Now good old Charlie Gibson is getting in on the act, trying to portray Palin as some sort of religious fanatic who wants holy wars.
Millions of TV viewers who watched ABC News’ interview with Sarah Palin Thursday night never saw her take issue with a key question in which she was asked if she believes that the U.S. military effort in Iraq is “a task that is from God.”
The exchange between Palin and ABC’s Charlie Gibson, in which she questioned the accuracy of the quote attributed to her, was edited out of the television broadcast but included in official, unedited transcripts posted on ABC’s Web site, as well as in video posted on the Internet.
But in the version shown on television, a video clip of her original statement was inserted in place of her objection, giving a different impression of how Palin views the Iraq war.
In the interview, Gibson asked Palin: “You said recently in your old church, ‘Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.’ Are we fighting a Holy War?”
Palin’s response, which appears in the transcript but was edited out of the televised version, was:
“You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.”
“It’s exact words,” Gibson said.
But Gibson’s quote left out what Palin said before that:
“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”
The edited televised version included a partial clip of that quote, but not the whole thing.
Standard fare for the liberal media; if you can’t beat ‘em, smear ‘em.
No politics today; just a tribute to all those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001 and for their friends and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.
SEATTLE — Deportations from Washington, Oregon and Alaska have spiked by nearly 40 percent, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Friday.
Immigration officials said the number of illegal aliens deported from those three states was 7,345 for the first nine months of the fiscal year. That number was up from 5,256 for the same period last year.
If the monthly average continues, the agency is on pace for a record-breaking year in the region, said Neil Clark, field office director for ICE detention and removal operations in Seattle.
Hey, Southwest, Southeast, Northeast…Great Plains…Midwest? Take notice; someone has the right idea.
You know the old theory of ‘good quality, fast or cheap…pick two?’ Well, I think we need to modify it just a little and give Barry a chance: arrogant, stupid or a liar…pick two.
WASHINGTON — John McCain bested Barack Obama 50-46 percent among registered voters in the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, jumping 11 points over his previous showing and taking his biggest lead since January.
McCain’s showing is credited in part to a well-received Republican Convention last week fueled largely by the surprise pick of McCain’s vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin. The numbers out Monday show McCain wiped out a 7-point lead Obama received after the Democratic convention two weeks ago.
Convention bounce…Sarah Palin…Obama failing at life. They all add up to good poll numbers for the McShamnesty camp!
The numbers are drawing scorn in the Chicago headquarters of Obama for President.
“Up or down, we believe national polls are meaningless,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton told FOX News.
Why do I have this sneaking suspicion that if The Obamessiah had the lead, those poll numbers would be considered a lot less “meaningless?” Oh, I don’t know, maybe it’s the rank hypocrisy puddling around the feet of everyone involved in the Obama campaign.
Keith Olbermann’s brand of commentary may carry his network’s dismal ratings, but MSNBC executives are scrubbing the talkmeister’s anchor duties after the cable channel finished dead last in the Nielsen rankings of all news coverage during the two weeks of political conventions.
MSNBC announced Monday that Olbermann and Chris Matthews have both been booted as co-hosts on political night coverage in favor of David Gregory, whose White House press corps experience may make him better suited to deliver sober and less opinion-driven assessments of the news.
Shocking. Matthews and Olbermann, not being impartial newsmen? I just can’t believe it. I mean, hasn’t every news host in the country said that he felt a thrill go up his leg when Obama speaks? Hasn’t everyone compared Bill Clinton to Jesus? Isn’t that everyone’s reaction? Whoops, nope! Try again next time, you MSM tool.
How amazing is it that Olbermann spends nearly half his show every day insulting Bill O’Reilly and Fox News, and now, due to how badly FNC mopped the floor with MSNBC over convention week, he’s been removed from the political team.
Barack Obama contends that he is more experienced in executive matters than Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin because he has managed his presidential campaign for the past 18 months.
You know, Obama has said a lot of stupid things (i.e. ‘there are 57 states,’ ‘let’s not kill Bin Laden,’ ‘Ted Kennedy is a great man,’ ‘my wife is NOT a demon,’ etc), but I believe this latest bout of insanity just might take the cake.
You are qualified to be PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA because you ran your CAMPAIGN!?!?! How in any way, shape or form does that equate?
Now, obviously his whole point was to belittle Sarah Palin’s experience, but does anyone in their right mind think that running a political campaign is the same as running an entire state in the country? A political campaign involves money, speeches, ads, backdoor deals, mudslingers, press releases, smear merchants and a variety of other things, all focused on the singular goal of getting that candidate elected. It’s a one-track mindset, and it has nothing, absolutely nothing, in common with running a state. To even think that it does (much less to come out all blustery and full of yourself and assert publicly that it does) is simply beyond arrogant.
“For Barack Obama to argue that he’s experienced enough to be president because he’s running for president is desperate circular logic and its laughable. It is a testament to Barack Obama’s inexperience and failing qualifications that he would stoop to passing off his candidacy as comparable to Governor Sarah Palin’s executive experience managing a budget of over $10 billion and more than 24,000 employees,” said spokesman Tucker Bounds.
Circular logic is probably the best term to be applied to Obama…and not just in this situation.
His arrogance knows no bounds, apparently. He sounds like a little kid who is proud that he learned to tie his shoes and that makes him qualified to be the CEO of Nike.
